fixing flash games when they dont work
Fort.ind mainly uses Ruffle, a Flash emulator, to play Flash content in Fort.ind
The troubleshooting steps listed here were found online; these can change, and there are other ruffle errors that we may not cover. It's best to make an issue on their GitHub page
"Failed to fetch": This is a network error, often caused by an incorrect URL for the SWF file. It can also happen if the file is on a server that Ruffle cannot access.
"Ruffle cannot parse the requested file" or "Ruffle failed to load the Flash SWF file": The emulator cannot load the file, usually because the URL is wrong, the file is corrupted, or it's simply not there.
Mixed content error: This occurs when a webpage loads over HTTPS, but the SWF file it's trying to load comes from an HTTP URL. Browsers block this for security reasons, and Ruffle cannot bypass it.
WebGPU validation error: This indicates a problem with the SWF file's graphics code, possibly due to an invalid or unsupported vertex shader, or a compatibility issue between the file and your browser or hardware.
Some solutions could work to fix these issues
Check for mixed content: Try to find an HTTPS version of the SWF file if possible, or see if you can download it and play it locally. (you can do this by viewing forts source code - its better to find the SWF files in our GitHub repo anyway :P)
Try a different browser or extension: If Ruffle is acting up, try a different browser or check for known issues with your current setup.
